Tips for Being Comfortable in Front of the Camera When Filming Video Content

Video content is key to creating a well rounded and impactful social media presence. However, not everyone is the most comfortable in front of the camera. This is completely normal and can take some time to work through. Here are a couple Gothic Disco tips to help you feel more comfortable in front of the camera and rock your own video content!

Hold Something

One of the biggest problems I've seen people run into when trying to be comfortable in front of the camera is that they don't know where to put their hands. The easiest way to work around this problem is to hold something while you're filming videos. This can be as simple as holding a cup of coffee or a water bottle. If you naturally talk with your hands feel free to do this as well! Just make sure that you do so in a natural way.

Start Simple

Don't try to start off too quickly. Filming simple videos may help you get more comfortable in front of the camera. These include using trending sounds, and only filming in locations you're already comfortable in. Using trending sounds allows you to get used to being on camera before you speak on camera. You can then layer your own information over the videos. Filming in locations you're already comfortable in can help you feel more comfortable later on to film in different locations.

Plan Your Content Ahead of Time

Sometimes you'll come up with an idea and want to go ahead and open your camera and film and there is nothing wrong with that! For the rest of your content though, it can make it much less stressful to plan it ahead of time. Script your videos, plan your music, and plan your locations ahead of time. All of this can help you know exactly what you're going to be doing once the camera is recording!

Hire Someone to Help

If you're really struggling to come up with video content or to feel comfortable in front of the camera, hire someone! Most social media managers will have virtually endless content ideas and be able to direct you when you're on camera. Social media managers will also be able to help you edit and post your videos to really get the most out of your content.
